Serving a home-cooked meal for five nights to single parents and their children is what Marked For Life Ministries calls LOVE Week. This Deliver HOPE project has proven to be a great way to come alongside single families while bringing dignity and hope.
Our 2nd Annual Love Week brought many testimonies from the parents and volunteers who served. Deliver Hope Projects are crafted to bring unity in The Body of Christ through unified efforts and initiatives.
“What may seem like a small task, such as dinner, made my coming home a joy instead of dread.” - Single Parent.
Single parents face many challenges that can feel overwhelming and hopeless. Most of them juggle many responsibilities without anyone helping or noticing their efforts, which makes them heroes of our society.
Valentine’s Day is known as a time to show love, and for single parents, it might just make them feel more alone. That is why we invest an entire week in showing the radical love of Jesus through a hot meal each night for these families.
Together, with community partners, churches, businesses, and individuals, we can prepare and deliver a home-cooked meal to each family for an entire week. What a blessing it is to show love in such a tangible way.
By week’s end, we delivered a total of 200 dinners over five days, and the amount of support was incredible. Every night supporters from around DeKalb County came to prepare, cook, package, and deliver meals.
The menu is designed to bring comfort and dignity. The week began with Barbecue and loaded potatoes, beans, and bread. Tuesday, we served Chicken Spaghetti with Garlic Bread and Salad. On Wednesday, we prepared Loaded Mac and Cheese with Breadsticks, Thursday Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Salad, and Rolls, and we closed out the week with Boston Butt, Potato Salad, Beans, and Chocolate Cake. Each night the meal included cookies and was wrapped with an encouraging word.
Thank you to all our AMAZING PARTNERS who make it possible to offer life-restoring programs that change generations to come. With your help, we can continue to engage in locally-focused projects that bring grace and honor to our neighbors in need.
